Rural businesses in the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area will have an opportunity to apply for funding to the Rural Development Programme in February 2019. The Causeway Coast and Glens Local Action Group have now approved over 60 applications from businesses, committing over £1.9 million to projects that will create jobs and support growth in the local economy.

Rasharkin based steel company M. Hasson and Sons is one of those local businesses who have successfully applied for funding from the programme, receiving £90,000 to assist in purchasing of a CNC Band Saw and CNC Drill-line.  This has allowed the company to create four new full-time jobs.

Speaking of the company’s successful application, Director Pat Hasson said, “This Investment has enabled us to machine the largest structural steel components available, as can been seen in our workshop today. Our skilled workforce are producing highly critical components for large private & Government projects both here and throughout Europe. It has been a game changer for our company.”

Commenting on the project, LAG Board member Tommy Collins MBE commented “We are fortunate to have a number of quality manufacturing firms around Rasharkin, Kilrea and Garvagh who are creating employment and developing products for use all around the world, and M. Hasson and Sons are certainly one of these companies. I congratulate the Hasson family on their continued business expansion and wish them luck going forward. I’d also like to urge rural businesses in the Council area to give our Admin Unit a call to find out if the Rural Development Programme can help you.”

Funding Workshops take place in January for those interested in making an application in February 2019. For more information visit www.causewaycoastandglens.gov.uk/work/rural-development or call 028 7034 7016.
