Council monitors recreational water such as swimming pools to make sure they are safe to use

Council also monitors the quality of private water supplies such as wells and boreholes

Please note that Council is not responsible for the quality of mains drinking water and if you have any concerns regarding your tap water you should contact Northern Ireland Water (0345 7440 088)

Council does carry out routine monitoring of swimming pools and Jacuzzis in leisure centres and hotels.  Council will arrange for the water to be tested to determine if the water is suitable for bathing and poses no risk to health.

Council also takes samples of private water supplies from boreholes, springs and wells to determine if the water is suitable for drinking.
