PROPOSED PUBLIC REALM IMPROVEMENT WORKS TO THE DIAMOND AND SURROUNDING AREA CONSULTATION

Pre-Planning Community Consultation 2024

Before we submit our planning application for this project, we would like to invite you to a Community Consultation Day to discuss the development of the designs.

Introduction:

We are delighted that Ballycastle is to receive funding through Department for Communities NI enabling significant upgrades of The Diamond area for the enjoyment of residents and visitors in Ballycastle. This will not only enhance the area itself, but it will also benefit the surrounding area and provide an economic boost for businesses.

The key elements of the public realm improvement works will consist of the public enhancement of the Diamond area. This includes, pedestrianisation of The Diamond and the redirection of traffic flow to reduce the pedestrian and vehicular safety risks.

Materiality will be granite footpaths and kerbing within Castle Street, reinstatement works of Ann Street’s footpaths and resurfacing of asphalt footpaths on Fairhill Street.

Previous Consultation:

The consultation process for Ballycastle public realm started in October 2023 with local representatives and community groups and will continue through to 28th March 2024.
