Members of Portrush WI were welcomed to a civic reception at Cloonavin recently as the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens joined them in celebrating the organisation’s milestone 70th anniversary.

Portrush WI was founded in 1954 and continues to be a thriving group of local women who are involved in all aspects of the community under the leadership of Janette Graham as president.

They meet regularly to engage with speakers, members of the business community and charities in the area.

The Mayor, Councillor Steven Callaghan said: “Portrush Women’s Institute has a long and proud history and I was delighted to host members at Cloonavin to mark this landmark 70th anniversary.

“WI members are women of all ages and backgrounds coming together to get involved in activities ranging from local campaigns to national issues. I want to thank the representatives from Portrush WI for their contribution to the local community over the years and the sterling work they have carried out.”
