Shop, Eat and Explore Ballycastle this Christmas

Wed, November 15, 2017

With over 60 independent shops and a stunning seaside location, come and see what Ballycastle has to offer this Christmas.

Shop, eat and explore the unique town landscape for gift ideas and speciality food. This Christmas, the town will also host a number of special events which will add to the festive feeling. This begins on Saturday 2nd December with the RDA Santa Pony Parade. The annual event is a fantastic spectacle with horses and riders suitably dressed for the occasion. Members of the public are encouraged to take part by bringing along their dogs in festive fancy dress to add to the fun. The event coincides with Small Business Saturday, which encourages us to support our local traders.

The theme of Shop Local continues on Sunday 3rd December when the Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market makes a welcome return to the Marine Hotel from 11am to 5pm. A visit to the market is a great way to kick start your Christmas shopping offering a fantastic array of local art, craft and food produce.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said: “A feeling of festive magic is already starting to build in Ballycastle with some fabulous window displays through the town centre. It’s a beautiful town and I would encourage everyone to come and experience its unique retail offering and Christmas attractions.”

The town will switch on its Christmas lights on Thursday 7th December with entertainment beginning in the Diamond from 6.30pm followed by a visit from Santa Claus.

On Saturday 16th December, the town is looking forward to a visit from the ‘Ice King and Queen’. They are due to stay from 1pm – 3pm, along with some Bouncy Reindeers who are always up to mischief.
