New festive lighting will bring extra Christmas sparkle to Limavady this year.

The big switch-on takes place on Saturday 18th November with entertainment at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre from 4.30pm. The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Joan Baird OBE, will join Santa to travel in style through the town with Clydesdale horses before the switch-on takes place at 5.15pm followed by music with a DJ.

As the countdown to the festive season gets under way, Limavady has lots to offer – with local independent shops and a great range of entertainment and activities. Small Business Saturday on December 2nd is a great time to start looking for that unique gift. The town’s Chamber of Commerce has been working with traders to provide food sampling, music and shop promotions on the day.

LCDI bring a Santa Grotto Extravaganza to Limavady from December 4th -10th complete with an ice rink and toboggan slide while Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre will offer a range of films and craft workshops for all ages.

The Mayor, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said: “I would encourage everyone to Shop Local at Christmas. With new lights, a great retail offer and a fabulous range of activities supported by the Council, local business and community groups, Limavady is looking forward to a memorable festive season.”

Street entertainment will be on offer from 1pm – 3pm on Saturday 9th December and Saturday 16th December. Jack Frost and Giggles the Elf, who are on a tour of the Causeway Coast and Glens, will stop off in Limavady on December 9th and Mrs Claus will be on hand with some circus elves on December 16th.

Following its successful introduction earlier in the year, Roe Valley Market will make a Christmas visit to Drumceatt Square on Saturday 16th December from 11am to 4pm offering a fantastic array of local art, craft and food produce.

And don’t forget Santa will visit the town on Saturday 23rd December at 2pm on a horse drawn carriage. He’s also expected to return for a walkabout on Christmas Eve.
