Irish Cup celebrations continue with civic reception

Thu, May 17, 2018

Coleraine FC continued their Irish Cup celebrations with a civic reception hosted by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Club officials and players were invited to the event in Cloonavin on Wednesday evening (May 16th) following their memorable win earlier this month.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Joan Baird OBE said:  “The depth of pride at what you have achieved is clear to see and the build up to the game fostered a real air of excitement and anticipation which only a Cup Final can produce.

“As sportsmen, you are wonderful ambassadors for the Borough and I hope your success inspires other young people to work hard, persevere and ultimately achieve their dreams.”

“I would like to offer you all my warmest congratulations and I wish you the very best for the future.”

To mark the occasion, Chairman Colin McKendry was presented with a specially commissioned sculpture inspired by the Council’s logo created by local artist Robert Spotten while the Mayor received a signed club shirt.
