Free autumn training opportunities for Causeway Coast and Glens tourism sector

Fri, October 08, 2021

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is delighted to offer a range of free training and mentoring opportunities for the tourism industry this autumn.

Tourism and hospitality businesses are encouraged to sign up now for the Tourism Excellence programme, which returns following a successful pilot earlier this year, as well as a series of digital marketing webinars and a Digital Causeway tourism focused programme.

Explaining more, the Mayor, Councillor Richard Holmes, said: “This is a fantastic opportunity for the industry to strengthen and expand their business potential. The Tourism Excellence Programme and Digital Causeway scheme will provide tailored one-to-one mentoring support to encourage development and growth.  For businesses wishing to enhance their digital presence, the webinars will equip participants with valuable skills and knowledge to ensure they are making the most of their online channels.”

The Tourism Excellence Programme, developed with the Alchemy Growth Programme, has been hailed as inspirational, thought provoking and motivational by previous participants. Part-financed by the European Regional Development Fund (ERDF) under the EU Investment for Growth and Jobs Programme 2014-2020, it has helped local businesses identify and reach target markets by rethinking strategies and developing a long-term cost plan.

Describing her experience, previous participant Heather Nicholl from Pulse Fitness Adventures said: “When I walked through that open door of opportunity on this programme, I didn’t slam it shut behind me.  Instead, I held it open, I enjoyed every moment of it, and I have gained so much in doing so”

The digital marketing webinars will show businesses how to utilise the latest trends and technologies.  If you want to get advice on creating compelling video content, sales channels, pricing and e-zine marketing, and gain insights into the use of different social media platforms such as Facebook, Instagram, Twitter and TikTok then this is the series for you.

Through Digital Causeway’s tourism-specific programme, eligible businesses can apply for between 8 and 35 hours of tailored support to help promote business growth.

It involves specialist digital marketing mentoring including social media and content creation, web design and development and driving customers to your website.

Flip Robinson from Giant Tours, a Digital Causeway Programme graduate, said: “I applied for much needed and important help to become more prominent online. I feel like I am back in control again and now have the understanding and skills to work on this formerly unknown, yet extremely important, area for marketing and sales.”
