Flowerfield Arts Centre hosts first online exhibition

Mon, April 20, 2020

Flowerfield Arts Centre has launched its first ever online exhibition as it continues to share creativity during the COVID-19 pandemic.

The first #virtuallyflowerfield collection features 20 local creatives, with pieces inspired by the current health crisis including visual arts, film and creative writing. Artists were invited to respond to the concept of ‘space’, something which is particularly relevant at this time with strict social distancing measures in place, and only essential travel allowed. You can view ‘Space’ at www.flowerfield.org or on Twitter and Instagram. Some of the artworks are for sale which will help boost income for the participating artists.

The collection features visual artists including Josephine Kelly, Rosella Watton-Austin, Katy English, Melanie Ward, Gail Mahon, Kevin McClelland, Gillian Hassan Hallam, Sally Patton, Mary McClelland, Corrina Askin, Ashley Coulter, Simon Harrison, Gaelle Berthelot, Ruth Holloway, Maurice Orr, along with a short film by Ayfer Mills and a short story extract ‘Small Steps’ by acclaimed writer Bernie McGill.

Flowerfield’s next monthly online exhibition ‘Quiet’ will launch on 1st May.

Creative practitioners of all disciplines are also invited to join the ‘Flowerfield Creatives’ group on Facebook to share helpful information, opportunities and exchange creative ideas to support each other through the pandemic. It is hoped that other creative initiatives will emerge through this shared forum.
