Art exhibition inspired by the Sperrin Mountains

Art exhibition inspired by the Sperrin Mountains

Thu, April 20, 2017

The dramatic environment of the Sperrin Mountains is the inspiration for a new contemporary art exhibition hosted by Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre.

Entitled ‘Readings in Passage: Mountain Reflections’, the art work has been compiled by the collective group of artists known as Collaborative Art and Kinetic Environments (CAAKE).

The group is made up of visual artists, makers and performers who are primarily based in Northern Ireland.

Last year, they undertook creative work in the Sperrin Mountains. The objects, drawings, photography and film work created from this trip explore our natural environment.

Based in the Arts Centre’s Ritter Gallery, the exhibition will run from 28th April until 24th June.

The artists are providing a free tour of the exhibition at 12 noon on Saturday 29th April, with a launch event taking place on the same day from 2pm – 3.30pm.

To coincide with the exhibition, the artists are holding an inspirational series of creative workshops.

Family Friendly Funky Junk Jewellery and Painting Landscapes will take place on April 29th in addition to Meditative Movement and Cyanotype Printmaking on  May 27th.
