Julienne Elliott, Economic Development Officer Town Management invited Sara Crockett, a local up and coming country music singer to launch herself into Coleraine to spread the word about the forthcoming dates and to attract other singers to come along and perform. Julienne stated, “Coleraine Goes Country is a unique event and the only one of its kind in the country. Designed to support our local businesses in Coleraine, it attract residents and visitors to come and shop and experience Coleraine for its heritage and enjoyable atmosphere. “A programme of country music acts will be broadcast early next year, in time for everyone to choose their favourites and schedule their diaries to enjoy some new ones, with information to be published on Facebook – ColeraineGoesCountry before the event.” Sara has performed live on stage at the world famous Bluebird Cafe and live on American radio for ‘The Music Row Show’ with Scott Southworth and Heino Moeller, the same radio station which is home to the Grand Ole Opry. She has also achieved radio play reaching across the UK and farther afield in New Zealand, Canada and the US. Julienne continued, “With every radio and television channel now supporting the best of country music and with this year’s first Country Music Awards on IrishTV, it is definitely the best time to showcase the best of our local talent in Coleraine, making the town one large venue for the weekend. This is the second year of the event and I look forward to it being even bigger than last year.” Sarah said, “In November 2014 I was nominated for 2 British Country Music Awards, ‘Horizon Act’ and ‘Album of the Year’ held in London, alongside brilliant UK acts such as The Shires and Ward Thomas. I was delighted just to be nominated alongside artists such as these. “Coming up, I will soon be writing for a new release planned for next year. Last month I was in the studio with Irish country singer Johnny Brady to lay down my vocal on a few tracks for his upcoming album which was an exciting opportunity and I am very much looking forward to ‘Coleraine Goes Country’, both for singing and meeting other music enthusiasts coming to Coleraine.” For more on Sara’s music, go to www.saracrockett.com. For details on the forthcoming dates and programme, keep up to date with Facebook Coleraine Goes Country.
