Ready, Set, Go for August Children’s Month! 

Looking for fabulous creative activities for the kids this summer? Look no further! Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, Limavady welcomes back August Children’s Month, jam-packed with a magical line-up of enchanting family theatre, exhibitions, workshops, films and more.

The popular ‘Family Film Fridays’ returns, kicking off on 5th August at 2pm with the magical, internationally acclaimed animation ‘Song of the Sea’ which sees Ben and his little sister embark on an amazing journey across the sea to find their way home.

Families can catch up with all of the action in the Galactic Empire when recent blockbuster ‘Star Wars – The Force Awakens’ screens on 12th August at 2pm. A pre-screening Star Wars art workshop is also running from 11.30am until 1.30pm for passionate fans. This is followed by another blockbuster ‘Minions’ screening on 19th August at 2pm. A pre-screening art workshop for children is also available from 11.30am until 1.30pm.

The wonderful Banyan Theatre Company will present an enchanting retelling of classic tale Little Red Riding Hood on Saturday 6 August at 2pm. Producing quality theatre for very young audiences, Banyan use a dynamic blend of storytelling, puppetry and original music to delight viewers aged 5+ years. They are also providing a brilliant Puppet Making workshop for the lucky few from 11.30am until 12.30pm before the theatre event. Advanced booking is highly recommended as numbers are limited.

Children can also enjoy the enchanting Pirate Adventures theatre event on Saturday 27th August at 12noon. Presented by the hilarious Mr Hullabaloo, children aged 3-8 years will enter the spellbinding world of pirate coves and enjoy a selection of much-loved tales of the sea.

From Monday 22nd until Friday 26th August, children and young people can dance their hearts out in two fantastic courses with professional dancer and choreographer, Bridget Madden. Kids aged 5-9 years can bop the morning away in TeenyBop, which runs each morning from 10am until 11am whilst young people aged 11-16 years can get their groove on in Creative Dance which runs each day from 11am until 1pm.
