The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has paid tribute following the tragic death of William Dunlop.

The Ballymoney rider was killed during a practice session at the Skerries 100 in County Dublin on Saturday.

The Mayor Councillor Brenda Chivers said: “On behalf of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council I want to offer my deepest sympathies to the Dunlop family following the very sad passing of William. Motor racing is part of the fabric of the Causeway Coast and Glens and the Dunlop family are at the very heart of this. The local community in the Ballymoney area and beyond will be devastated by news of this terrible tragedy. William was a great sporting ambassador for our area and his death will leave a huge void. My prayers are with his family and friends at this very sad time.”
