Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council makes ‘Shop, Eat, Enjoy Local’ appeal
Fri, July 24, 2020
The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is asking everyone to ‘Shop, Eat and Enjoy Local’ as our towns and villages begin to re-open again.
Alderman Mark Fielding said that given the challenges of the past number of months, it’s never been more important to support shops and businesses within the Borough.
“As the shutters begin to lift across our town centres, our business owners are relying on the return of their customers and we should do everything we can to aid their recovery without losing sight of the importance of social distancing and regular hand-washing. There is no room for complacency by anyone at this time.”
“Across the Borough we have a wealth of family-owned premises who have remained a constant presence for generations, along with the emergence of the artisan sector, well-known brands and lots of fantastic restaurants and cafés. They all need and deserve our support in these unprecedented times.”
“We have shown how we can work together for the benefit of the Borough in recent months, and this needs to continue by supporting our business communities.
“I would call on people to refrain from rumour and instead follow the health advice which is in place to keep us and others safe. We must all continue to social distance from each other, avoid touching our face, and wash our hands regularly. Reports of a recent cluster should heighten our awareness around coronavirus and the need for vigilance but it shouldn’t deter us from visiting our towns and villages.
“Alongside this, a Test, Trace and Protect programme has been implemented by the Public Health Agency to combat the spread of the virus as lockdown restrictions continue to ease.
“By following the guidelines we can keep safe while showing our support for our traders by shopping local.”
