Dozens affected by cancer come together for special Macmillan Move More event in Portballintrae

Over 50 people whose lives have been impacted by cancer participated in a special get-together at Portballintrae Village Hall recently, as part of Council’s Move More campaign.
Participants living in Causeway Coast and Glens, along with others from Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council area, attended the event, enjoying the chance to ‘move more’ through dance and chair yoga, followed by lunch and a 2-mile walk, taking in the breathtaking views of Runkerry Beach.
The Macmillan Move More programme is an award-winning partnership project, offering tailored support to help people living with cancer in Northern Ireland become active.
Move More Co-ordinator for Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Catherine King said: “This event in Portballintrae was an excellent opportunity for people affected by cancer to meet others, get active and enjoy the laughter.
“Studies have shown the incredible benefits of having an active lifestyle during cancer. You will feel less tired and stressed, and participating in group exercise can help you regain confidence. Making these changes and knowing the benefits to your overall health and well-being can keep you going, even when it's hard to feel motivated.
“I would like to thank Armagh, Banbridge and Craigavon Borough Council for providing the hospitality for the event.”
Move More aims to provide physical and emotional support for people living with or affected by cancer across NI. Move More regional events are an essential part of the support, allowing people to chat with others experiencing cancer.
