Ballycastle has welcomed crowds of locals and visitors for another fantastic weekend of fun at The Ould Lammas Fair.

The much-loved annual event saw hundreds of stalls line the streets, with local artisans bringing an array of handcrafted souvenir options for those who made their way to the bustling seaside town.

With many visitors on the lookout for the famous yellow man and dulse market stalls, crowds also enjoyed the sounds of traditional musicians amongst this year’s programme with quiet time activities on offer for those with additional needs.

The Ould Lammas Fair dates back over 400 years and has attracted thousands of people all eager to sample the unique festival atmosphere; this year’s jam-packed programme also included the popular heavy horse show, horse races on the beach, and fairground rides. New for 2023, Ballycastle’s Quay Road playing fields offered family fun for all with ‘have a go activities’ such as circus skills and archery.

The seafront provided a stunning backdrop for the traders from Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market, where visitors sampled wonderful local food and handmade products while also getting an opportunity to meet the makers and chat to them about their products.

This year’s Twilight Market proved popular with Sunday evening culminating in a stunning firework display at the seafront alongside a live music concert at The Diamond.

Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens, Councillor Steven Callaghan said: “Thank you to everyone who made their way to Ballycastle for this year’s Ould Lammas Fair.

“The event was a tremendous success, and it was a real treat to see our local businesses showcase their products to the thousands of people who attended.

“This event holds a special place in the hearts of many and it was fantastic to attend as Mayor and meet many of you over the long weekend. I am certain all who attended will have experienced the famous warm welcome from the people of Ballycastle and the Causeway Coast and Glens.”
