Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council marked Fairtrade Fortnight with a visit from a Nicaraguan chocolate factory worker.

Haris Picado was the special guest at an event in Cloonavin on Thursday 9th March, which was held as part of Council's ongoing commitment to becoming a Fairtrade Borough.

Haris shared his experiences of the Fairtrade initiative and explained its importance for himself and his wider community.

He was welcomed to the Borough by the Deputy Mayor, Councillor James Alexander McCorkell who addressed the crowd and spoke about Council’s to Fairtrade values.

He said: “It is my intention to promote this worthy cause throughout the Borough. After listening to Harris’ story, we need everyone in the community to fully support farmers and their families during this significant campaign.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is committed to the Fairtrade journey and further details of upcoming events and how people across our community can get involved will be communicated soon.
