Atlantic Link- the first Enterprise Zone in Northern Ireland!

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is delighted to announce that, Atlantic Link, the first carrier neutral Enterprise Zone and Data Centre in Northern Ireland is coming to our area.

Atlantic Link will be built at a site close to the University of Ulster in Coleraine.

Enterprise Zones ultimately offer hi-tech businesses tax incentives and simplified planning procedures.

For our Borough, this presents a significant economic development opportunity. It will be built where the Project Kelvin transatlantic fibre, which connects the US and UK, comes ashore.

It is a ground breaking opportunity for companies who will be able to utilise the site. For an area reliant on agriculture and tourism, it represents a new high tech direction for the Borough.

This project has been achieved by securing the investor and anchor tenant 5Nines which is a global data centre company. They will shortly commence the construction of the site.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey has commented on the positive news for the Borough, “This is the crucial next step for the Digital Causeway, attracting new industries and jobs to the region and giving Causeway Coast and Glens a competitive edge which no other site in Northern Ireland can currently offer.   I am delighted that the determination and support of Councillors has made this ambition a reality and we look forward to the growth it will bring to the local economy.”

Council will now embark on the process to develop, market and promote Atlantic Link in establishing a Digital and Creative Causeway.
