Town Centre Masterplanning
In partnership with the Department for Social Development [DSD], the four legacy councils of Ballymoney, Coleraine, Limavady and Ballycastle developed a series of town centre masterplans during 2009 -2014. These documents, which are not statutory, help to provide a guide to future development and identify key interventions to capitalise on each of the four town’s unique assets and outline actions to catalyse and deliver the regeneration of 21st centre town centres in each location.
In 2021 Department for Communities [formerly DSD] published a review of Ballycastle, Ballymoney and Coleraine masterplans in order to revisit the proposed activities and identify if still relevant. Council will now consider the masterplan reviews and will continue to use these blueprints to prioritise schemes and initiatives within its departments. All actions will be dependent on funding and development opportunities.
