Portrush/Portstewart Intervention Programme

The Programme consisted of 27 major and minor projects to collectively rid both towns of their worst urban degeneration blight and improve their overall ambience in expectation of the Irish Open Golf Championship in June 2012.

With a grant of £405,000 from the Department of the Environment, Council undertook a rapid programme of built environment enhancements. The impact, when combined with other complementary initiatives undertaken by Council, was very positive and accurately reflected in the results from the 2012 public perception research.
