The countdown is on to this year’s Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council sports awards.

The gala evening, hosted by Sarah Travers, takes place in the Lodge Hotel on Friday, November 4th at 7.30pm.

The event will bring together sports stars from Coleraine, Ballymoney, Limavady and Moyle.

The overall winners were selected by an independent assessment panel, who were faced with a difficult task due to the high calibre of nominations.

12 awards will be presented, including an award for ‘Services to Sports’. It aims to celebrate an ‘unsung hero’ who has dedicated their life to sport in the region.

Other categories include Sports Administrator of the Year and Coach of the Year.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey said: “Across our region we are fortunate to have a wide and varied range of sporting talent. It is important to recognise the efforts and achievements of all those involved, whether this is on the pitch or behind the scenes. Our Sports Awards are a way of saying thank you to this important sector of our community. We cannot underestimate the significant role sport plays in the area, and hopefully events like this will let those involved know that their efforts have not gone unnoticed. I would like to wish all our nominees the very best of luck.”

Tickets for the Sports Awards are priced at £20 per person. They are now available to purchase from Cloonavin in Coleraine, Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre, Ballymoney, Scroggy Road Sports Pavilion, Limavady and Sheskburn Recreation Centre, Ballycastle.
