Temporary extension to Sunday trading hours during December

Temporary extension to Sunday trading hours during December

Wed, November 25, 2020

Larger shops and supermarkets within Causeway Coast and Glens will be permitted to open two hours earlier than usual on Sundays during December 2020, in a temporary extension of trading hours.

Sunday trading restrictions within the Borough are being relaxed so that key workers, the vulnerable and elderly can avail of extra shopping time as the pandemic continues.

Retail shops and supermarkets can open their doors from 11.00 BST subject to the current restrictions. The choice to trade during this extended period will be a matter for individual operators.

In line with new measures coming into effect on November 27th, only outlets that sell essential goods can remain open for the following two weeks.

From Sunday 3rd January, trading hours will revert to that previously agreed, 1200hrs  to 1800hrs.

Under normal circumstances, larger shops with a floor space of more than 280 sq m (334 sq yd) are only permitted to sell goods from 1300hrs to 1800hrs on Sundays.

Normal Easter Sunday restrictions will remain in place.

These arrangements will be continuously reviewed and will revert to those within the Order as soon as circumstances permit or directed by Government.
