The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has held a special reception to mark the achievements of local bowler Rachel Cochrane.

The event took place on Monday 21st May in The Mayor’s Parlour, Limavady.

Rachel was recently crowned the Irish Indoor Bowling Association Ladies Champion and in doing so became the youngest ever winner of the title.

Ambitious Rachel won four games to get through to the North West qualifiers and then won three games to reach the tense final.

The Mayor, Councillor Joan Baird OBE, spoke after the event saying: “Rachel is a true inspiration to us having achieved so much at the young age of 14. Having caught the bowling bug from both her grandmothers seven years ago, she has worked incredibly hard to now call herself Irish Champion. Her hard work, dedication and passion for the sport is very clear and she truly deserves every success that comes her way in the future.”
