The prestigious Seaside Award Flag is now flying at Waterfoot Beach in Glenariff.

The beautiful stretch of coastline within the stunning 'Queen of the Glens' is one of a number of locations across the Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council area selected for an accolade at this year's Blue Flag and Seaside Awards.

The flag was put on display this week with help from St Patrick’s Primary School pupils who have been praised for their ongoing ECO Schools work and representatives of Antrim Glens Tourism and Glenariff Improvement Group. The award is testament to the ongoing commitment of all those within the Glenariff community.

During the event, the children heard stories from local writer Liz Weir and were given important information on bathing water, beach safety, litter and waste management from Jen Firth of Keep Northern Ireland Beautiful.
