Older residents encouraged to stay active and ‘Move With Mary’

Mon, November 09, 2020

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s Age Friendly programme, in partnership with the Public Health Agency, is encouraging older people to get active with a new online exercise programme.

‘Move With Mary’, featuring sporting legend Lady Mary Peters working with Age NI, includes five exercise videos, ranging from simple seated stretches, to balance, strength and gentle aerobic exercises which can all be followed at home.

Health experts have warned of the dangers older people face from a lack of regular movement while UK research reveals that 40% are worried about the effects of the lockdown on their mental health and physical wellbeing.

A booklet, ‘Keeping Well at Home’, developed to compliment this online resource is available here.
