A photograph entitled ‘Trust’ was one of three winning entries in this year’s Vauxhall International NW 200 photography competition.

Taken by Mike Pilkington from Malahide, it was the winner in the Open Category and shows three Northern Irish riders including Alistair Seeley, sitting tight to the kerb as they came around a corner.

The competition theme, ‘Capture the Moment’, was open to interpretation but entries needed to relate in some way to the road racing event and its impact on the Causeway Coast and Glens area.

The Under 18 winner was Rachel Barlow from Carrickfergus who captured a moment of fun on the winners’ podium between whilst Stacy McClarty from Balnamore was successful in the Peoples’ Choice category with her entry of two young boys taking mobile phone pictures of the riders as they went past.

The prizes were awarded by the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Councillor Brenda Chivers at a recent event in Ballymoney Museum.

Offering her congratulations, the Mayor said: “This year’s competition attracted a high number of entries and our three winning photographs show the road race from three very different angles. I would like to thank everyone who took part in the competition which really helps to celebrate this iconic event while building a photographic legacy.”

Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Museum Service, the competition attracted entries from professional, amateur and budding photographers.

The winners were chosen by the Deputy Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Trevor Clarke, NW200 Race Director Mervyn Whyte MBE and photographer Clifford McLean.

The prizes were sponsored by the Organising Committee of the NW200, Millsport Motorcycles, Ballymoney and Waterstones, Coleraine.
