Thu, September 07, 2017

Children and adults can get creative with a range of community arts workshops in Ballycastle organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Offering the opportunity to explore new art forms and learn creative skills, classes will be held in Sheskburn House from September to December.

Part of Flowerfield Arts Centre’s Outreach programme, the courses and workshops will be delivered by experienced local facilitators.

Starting this month, the popular Ballycastle Writers’ Group will host an eight-week course for adults beginning on Thursday 28th September from 7.30pm - 9.30pm weekly. Advance booking is required as spaces are limited so please contact kaslass@yahoo.co.uk

A ten-week course aimed at developing your artistic painting skills will begin on the same evening. Ideal for beginners or improvers, the weekly class will take place from 7pm - 9pm.

Adults will also have the chance to learn the art of jewellery-making with a one-day workshop on Saturday 23rd September from 11.30pm - 3.30pm. Tutor Diane Lyness will guide participants as they learn how to create silver stacking rings, and learn techniques including shaping, texturing and polishing.

There are plenty of creative opportunities for children in the upcoming months, with a Halloween workshop on Saturday 21st October. In the run up to the festive season there will be a Christmas workshop on Saturday 9th December. These free drop-in sessions will run from 11am – 12midday and 12midday - 1pm. Children must be accompanied by an adult.
