The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens enjoyed an evening of racing at the North West 200 on Thursday.

Alderman Maura Hickey attended the event, along with her husband Liam.

Amid beautiful sunshine, huge crowds were entertained to three thrilling races, with a win for Alastair Seeley in the Superstock class followed by a double victory for Martin Jessopp in the Supersport and Supertwin.

Speaking after the event, the Mayor said: “While I have been to the North West many times, this was my first time at the Thursday evening races and it was a fantastic experience. It was great to see so many fans and spectators enjoying themselves. The weather helped to create a wonderful atmosphere, and showcased our Borough at its very best.

“Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is proud to support this truly unique event, and my thanks go to everyone involved. As we know, volunteers also play a vital part, and their efforts were clear to see on Thursday evening.

“I would like to wish all the competitors the very best of luck for Saturday, and I hope it is a safe and enjoyable day.”
