Regarded as one of the finest songwriters of her generation, Mary Gauthier will make a welcome return to Flowerfield Arts Centre in Portstewart on Friday 4th May.

The event will entertain audiences with the sounds of the singer’s new album- Rifles and Rosary Beads, written following a four year programme which saw Gauthier worked with wounded American combat veterans through the ‘Songwriting With Soldiers’ programme. Offering a forum for members of the military to process their war experiences through music, the album is currently receiving countless accolades.

As a songwriter, it’s the outsiders with whom Gauthier has always identified most. “I’m always trying to go to the deepest possible place inside of me that is an artist’s job, to transcend the self, “ she said.

The songs of this Louisiana native-turned-Nashville resident have earned praise from Bob Dylan and Tom Waits, and have previously been recorded by Jimmy Buffett, Blake Shelton, Boy George and many others. Gauthier is one of America’s most admired artists and needs no introduction to her legions of fans across Northern Ireland.

Tickets for the show priced at £20 are available online at https://www.ticketsource.co.uk/realmusicclub or contact Flowerfield Box Office on 028 7083 1400.
