Local history talks return to Ballymoney Town Hall

Thu, March 16, 2017

Local historian Mr S. Alex Blair will return to Ballymoney Town Hall on Wednesday 22nd March with the third and final history talk in his spring series.

The concluding talk will explore the life of Andrew Bonar Law.

In advance of the talk Alex Blair wrote the following introductory comments:

‘Often called ‘Britain’s Unknown Prime Minister’, Andrew Bonar Law deserves to be better known. He dominated British politics for two decades at the beginning of the 20th century and kept close links with Maddybenny, where his father lived. He plaid a pivotal role in Ulster’s fight against Home Rule and the fact that he was buried in Westminster Abbey indicates the esteem in which he was held by the British public. His story is one of self-effacing modesty but great ability and will be an eye-opener for many’.

Admission for the talk is £2.
