Limavady welcomes acclaimed American singer-songwriter and fiddler Rayna Gellert

Wed, January 18, 2017

Prepare yourselves for a superb toe-tapping evening of Old Time American traditional music.

Internationally acclaimed singer-songwriter and expert fiddler Rayna Gellert will grace the stage at Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre in Limavady on Saturday 4th February at 8pm.

A member of the celebrated string-band Uncle Earl, Rayna has deep roots in American traditional music which has led her to collaborating with artists such as Sara Watkins, Abigail Washburn, Robyn Hitchcock and Loudon Wainwright III.

Having spent most of her life immersed in the sounds of rural string-band music, heartfelt gospel songs and old ballads, Rayna’s own voice has evolved over the years with her extraordinary albums combining original self-penned songs with deep traditional songs performed in a highly contemporary way.

Rayna will be joined on stage by Kai Welch and Jamie Dick, the percussionist from Rhiannon Giddens band.

A brilliant opportunity for local fiddle players, Rayna has also agreed to host a fiddle playing workshop for the lucky few from 4pm - 5pm before her concert. Advance booking for this workshop is essential.
