Heart of the Glens Festival 2016 Takes Place 6th - 14th August

Heart of the Glens Festival, supported by Council, is one of the most successful community festivals in Northern Ireland.  The 2016 programme of events is as varied and entertaining as ever with something for all the family, running between 6th and 14th August .

This year the festival is celebrating 25 years of the ‘Lurig Run’ and expects to see the highest number of entrants ever; for that reason the numbers will be limited, therefore make sure to submit your registration form as early as possible.  Registration forms are available to download on ‘Lurig Challenge Run’ Facebook page and there will be special anniversary prizes to be won!

Throughout the week there will be the usual favourites including the Vintage Family Fun Day, ‘Food Festival’ Night and ‘Lark in the Park’ in Cottage Wood. The festival theme on Friday night 12th August is ‘Dallywood – Disney’.  Dress up (anything goes) and enjoy the atmosphere on Mill Street. This is always a popular night with hundreds crowding into the village for a great night of fun and entertainment culminating with music from ‘Sunshine’.

The ‘Grand Finale Street Party’ on Sunday 14th August will feature the famous ‘Waves of Tory’ at 8.30pm alongside a variety of traditional Irish music, song and dance, finishing the proceedings with the lively band ‘The Real Shindig’ who are sure to end the night in style!

Appreciation is given for the continued support and generosity from everyone attending the many events throughout the week.  The support from local businesses, donations and sponsorship all help make the festival a great success.

Many of the events are outdoor and are dependent on good weather therefore the venue may be changed at short notice – any changes or amendments will be displaid on a notice board at the Curfew Tower and at the entrance to the Festival Office, Mill Street.

Extra help is always welcome and gratefully appreciated; if anyone is available to help during the week please contact the festival office at 028 21771378.

As always, the Heart of the Glens Festival looks forward to welcoming visitors and locals alike and hopes that the festival has something for everyone to enjoy. So get yourself to Cushendall between the 6th and 14th August and join in the fun!

If you require any assistance during the week please call into the Festival Office, Old School House, Mill Street, Cushendall where the staff will be happy to help you.

Heart of the Glens Festival committee would like to give a warm welcome to all the visitors, family and friends to Cushendall and hope you have a great week. A full programme of events is now available in local shops with some details on our ‘Heart of the Glens Festival Cushendall’ Facebook.
