Members of the public are being invited to help create a unique community artwork as part of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council’s NI100 programme.

Called ‘Our Story in the Making’, the piece will consist of 100 ceramic tiles made by 100 individuals from across the borough.

On its completion, it will be permanently displayed at Drumceatt Square outside Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre in Limavady.

The project is open to all ages and artist Fiona Shannon will lead free pop-up workshops this month for anyone who would like to take part.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Richard Holmes, said: “This project is a fantastic celebration of our people and places through the medium of art and will capture our shared love for Causeway Coast and Glens.

“The finished artwork will be a great legacy for our NI 100 programme and will form part of the ‘Our Story in the Making’ public artwork trail across Northern Ireland.”

The workshops will take place as follows:

  • Thursday 19th August, Ballycastle Seafront, 11am-1pm
  • Friday 20th August, Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, 11am-1pm.
  • Friday 20th August, Ballymoney Town Hall, 3pm-5pm
  • Saturday 21st August, Flowerfield Arts Centre, 11am-1pm
  • Wednesday 25th August, Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre, 2pm-4pm.

The project is funded by the Northern Ireland Office as part of their Our Story in the Making: Northern Ireland Beyond 100 Centenary Programme.
