Get creative in the New Year in Ballymoney

Children and adults can get creative with a range of community arts workshops in Ballymoney organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Offering adults and children the opportunity to explore art forms and learn new skills, the courses and workshops will be held in Ballymoney Town Hall from January until March.

The popular Ballymoney Writers’ Group will host a free nine-week course for adults beginning on Monday 22nd January from 7.30pm-9.30pm weekly. Advance booking is required as spaces are limited so please contact amccusker2000@yahoo.co.uk or T: 028 2594 1671.

If you would like to develop your quilting skills, a number of spaces are available on the 10-week patchwork course which begins on Monday 15th January from 7pm - 9pm. A more advanced patchwork course will run for 10 weeks for those who wish to improve their skills beginning on Tuesday 16th January from 7pm - 9pm.

Adults will also have the chance to improve their artistic talents with a 10-week painting course beginning on Wednesday 17th January. The beginners’ class will take place from 10.30am - 12.30pm weekly, with the improvers’ class at 7.30-9.30pm.

If you would like to learn the art of calligraphy, an 8-week course suitable for both beginners and those at a more advanced level begins on Monday 29th January 2pm – 4pm. There’ll be a one-off flower arranging workshop on Saturday 24th February with participants aiming to create a three-tier modern arrangement.

Kids can get creative at the mad hatters hat-making workshop which will take place on Saturday 24th March from 10.30am – 12.30pm. These sessions are designed for children aged 5-11 years of age.

These courses are delivered as part of Flowerfield Arts Centre’s creative learning outreach programme and all activities will be delivered by experienced local facilitators.
