Enrolment set to begin on Council’s exciting Summer Recreation Programme

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has unveiled its latest Summer Recreation Programme. 

A host of activities will take place in venues across the Borough from Monday 1st July until Friday 16th August.

Participants have more choice than ever before with 51 courses covering 28 different activity options including surfing, golf, gymnastics and American field sports.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Sean Bateson said: “Council is delighted to announce its Borough-wide Summer Recreation Programme which gives our young people an opportunity to enjoy fantastic fun activities from Ballycastle to Ballymoney and Coleraine to Limavady. Active lifestyles are so important to our overall wellbeing and as a Council we are committed to providing quality leisure and recreation options. Our Summer Recreation Programme is one our most popular initiatives and I would encourage as many people as possible to take part and enjoy the benefits associated with getting active.”

Sports Development Manager Jonny McFadden added: “I’m really excited about the scale and variety of courses and schemes on offer this year.  Council's Sports Development Team is committed to offering quality activities which are reflective of the specific needs within our communities. This year’s programme demonstrates an innovative approach to sport and activity delivery. Our courses and schemes are developed with young people in mind and offer exceptional coaching and supervision with lots of emphasis on having fun.”

Enrolment for all courses begins on Saturday 8th June at 8.30am in Coleraine Leisure Centre, Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre (Ballymoney), Dungiven Sports Centre, Roe Valley Leisure Centre (Limavady) and Sheskburn Recreation Centre (Ballycastle).

Each course costs £32 per person, however there is a discount ticket available priced at £26 per course per person, available for anyone enrolling on a minimum of three courses (activities must be booked at the same time).

The Summer Recreation Programme also includes summer activity schemes based in Coleraine West, Ballysally, Bushmills, Portstewart, Castlerock, Garvagh, Kilrea, Dungiven, Armoy and Cushendall.
