Are you looking for family-friendly things to do this Easter?

Ballymoney Spring Fair returns on Friday 10th April and Saturday 11th April with lots of free attractions and a carnival parade which will bring the colours of the season through the town.

Organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, with support from Local Women magazine, this year’s event promises to be the best yet with a new venue and an even bigger choice of have-a-go activities on offer.

Another exciting addition is the Spring Fair Fashion Event on Thursday 9th April in the Town Hall from 7pm – 8.30pm. With outfit inspiration for all ages it will showcase Ballymoney’s extensive retail repertoire from some of the town’s most popular boutiques and retail outlets. (Please note this is a ticketed event, more details coming soon).

The Mayor Councillor Sean Bateson said: “We’ve recognised the growing popularity of the Spring Fair and are delighted to offer more things to see and do than ever before. As the Easter holidays get underway we want friends and family to get together and enjoy this great day out which takes place at a number of sites throughout Ballymoney. The Spring Fair kicks off our busy events schedule for the year ahead and we look forward to seeing you all there.”

The event begins on Friday 10th April at Castlecroft from 11am – 4pm with a mini pop-up Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market and entertainment along with a live outdoor broadcast from Hugo Duncan and his hugely popular BBC Radio programme in the afternoon. We’re inviting everyone to come along and enjoy this opportunity to watch ‘Uncle Hugo’ bring his unique brand of banter, music and chat to the heart of Ballymoney town centre.

To accommodate ever increasing visitor numbers, the Showgrounds will host the hugely popular free family fun day on Saturday from 12noon - 4pm where visitors can look forward to firm favourites including archery, animal farm, soft play area, live music and craft workshops. And if you’re feeling more adventurous, there’ll also be laser clay pigeon shooting, climbing wall and laser tag on the programme for the first time this year. A Quiet Time session will run from 10.30am - 12 noon with craft workshops and animal farm.

Car enthusiasts won’t want to miss the Vintage and Classic Car Show with Ballymoney Old Vehicle Club at Joey Dunlop Leisure Centre from 10am. It will take to the road from 3.30pm with a cavalcade combining with the carnival parade. Featuring around 100 local school children, the spring themed spectacle will feature a range of brightly coloured giant inflatables and quirky characters setting off from the Town Hall through High Street, Main Street and Meeting House Street.

At Castlecroft, around 25 traders from Naturally North Coast and Glens Artisan Market will set out their stall from 11am – 4pm. Recent winners of the UK’s Best Community Market, this collective of makers features everything from knitwear, jewellery, paintings, woodcraft and photography to some of the tastiest artisan food products. This covered pedestrian area lends itself perfectly to the market setting so make sure to drop by and enjoy this award winning experience for yourself.
