‘Dreamer’s Space’ set to be unveiled by Flowerfield Arts Centre’s first artist-in-residence

Mon, January 06, 2020

Flowerfield Arts Centre’s first Springhall Artist in Residence, Corrina Askin, will launch her Dreamer’s Space project  on Friday 17th January at 2pm. Everyone is welcome to come along and see this unique series of site-specific illustrations and artworks first-hand.

Corrina, an artist, illustrator and animator, was awarded the first Springhall Artist in Residence in June 2019, made possible by the kind bequest of John Onslow Springhall, a local patron of the Art’s Centre. The Springhall Residency was established to support artists of all disciplines to develop their work and engage with the local community.

Corrina has used her time in the area to develop Dreamer’s Space, a series of public artworks and subtle site-specific illustrations throughout the Arts Centre and Flowerfield Park, celebrating the power of creativity and imagination. Corrina has also produced a publication to guide the audience through this new world, to help visitors find their way to stillness, happiness, fun and thoughtfulness. This is a truly unique approach to residency practice, while still keeping the ethos of the artist’s identity and embracing the community.

As part of the exhibition, Corrina will lead two workshops on Saturday 18th January and Saturday 25th January between 11am and 12.20pm. These will include a tour of the artworks and exhibition and a recreation of Journey Stick – a game created and mentioned in the Dreamer’s Space booklet (weather permitting).  These are free, but booking is advisable. Contact 028 7083 1400 for more details or email info@flowerfield.org

The exhibition continues until February 15th 2020.
