Creative courses begin in Ballymoney

Creative courses organised by Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council start in Ballymoney this month.

Offering adults and children the opportunity to explore new art forms and learn new skills, a range of courses and workshops will be held in Ballymoney Town Hall from September to December.

Part of Flowerfield Arts Centre’s Outreach programme, the courses and workshops will be delivered by experienced local facilitators.

Ballymoney Writers’ Group will deliver a 12-week course to support local writers honing their skills. This free course begins on Monday 11th September at 7.30pm – 9.30pm.  

If you would like to develop your sewing skills, a number of spaces are available on the ten-week week patchwork course which begins on Monday 18th September from 7pm - 9pm. A more advanced patchwork class for those who wish to improve their skills will begin on Tuesday 19th September from 7pm - 9pm.

A ten-week course for those wanting to develop their painting skills will take place from Wednesday 20th September. This beginners’ class will take place from 10.30am-12.30pm weekly with an improvers’ class at 7.30pm - 9.30pm.

If you would like to learn the art of calligraphy, a ten-week course suitable for both beginners and those at a more advanced level begins on Monday 25th September. There’ll be a one-off flower arranging workshop on Saturday 14th October and a jewellery making class on Saturday 21st October, led by tutor Dianne Lyness.

A wool buddies workshop for children will take place on Saturday 30th September from 10.30am – 12.30pm with a special Christmas-themed workshop happening on Saturday 25th November. These sessions are designed for children aged 5-11 years of age.
