A civic reception has been held in honour of a former member of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Maura Hickey stepped down after spending over 12 years as a local elected representative.

To mark the occasion, the Mayor Councillor Joan Baird OBE presented her with a piece of art created by local ceramicist Adam Frew.

Speaking afterwards the Mayor said: “Maura was first elected back in 2005 and in that time she was always dedicated and committed to her role.  On behalf of the Council, I would like to sincerely thank her for all her years of hard work and I wish her a very long and happy retirement.”

Mrs Hickey is a former Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, taking up the role the year before her retirement.
