Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council is seeking Youth Voice members to represent the views of young people and have their say on local issues.

Young people aged 15 – 21 years old who live in the borough are invited to apply to be part of the two-year programme, managed by Council in partnership with the Education Authority through its Youth Service.

Youth Voice will provide young people with the opportunity to:

  • Engage with key decision makers
  • Have their say on local issues
  • Meet new friends
  • Be a representative voice for young people in their area
  • Be involved and pro-actively engaged with local decision-making processes

Encouraging participation, the Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Mark Fielding, said: “As Mayor and as an elected member, I know the importance of using my voice to speak up for those who live in the area. Our young people are the decision makers of the future and it’s important that their contribution to society is utilised from an early stage.

“The Youth Voice forum will facilitate engagement and allow us to learn from each other. We always need new people and fresh ideas coming through to participate in the borough’s future democracy and young people are central to this.”

Causeway Coast and Glens Youth Voice will meet on a regular basis to identify and take forward common issues relating to young people in the area. It will also offer opportunities for residential stays and study visits.

Applications can be made online by going to https://www.cognitoforms.com/EAYouth/YouthVoice2 .

Completed applications should be submitted by Monday 22nd February 2021.

The application process is open to all Causeway Coast and Glens residents aged 15-21 regardless of background, abilities or interests. We welcome representatives from across the geographical spread and under-represented groups to ensure a diverse range of voices are heard.
