Coastal landscapes depicted in new exhibition at Flowerfield Arts Centre

Wed, March 21, 2018

A new exhibition of coastal landscape paintings by Sarah Carrington opens at Flowerfield Arts Centre on Saturday 7th April.

The inspiration for Sarah’s work on her ‘Pilgrimage’ collection originates from St Columba and his journey from the Causeway Coast to the isle of Iona in 563 AD where he began his Christian mission.

Originally from Scotland, Sarah’s beautiful atmospheric paintings explore rugged coastlines and depict sea changes with vast overarching skies and distant broad horizons.

Using emulsion paint, sand, varnish and oil paint, Sarah has recreated a variety of textures found at the sea shore and portrays the mood and weather of the coast.

The free exhibition will continue until Thursday 26th May.

Flowerfield Arts Centre is open from Monday to Friday, 9am- 5pm and Saturday, 10am – 1pm.
