Celebrating Coleraine’s sporting talent

The best of Coleraine’s sporting talent has been celebrated at the town’s annual Sports Awards.

The regional heat, which was held in advance of the overall Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council Sports Awards, took place in Cloonavin on Thursday evening (October 12th).

Sixteen awards were presented on the night in recognition of the wealth of sporting talent across the region.

The winners:

Junior Sportswoman (Under 19):Hannah Scott, Bann Rowing Club

Junior Sportsman (under 19): Dylan Mc Closkey, Zanghin Shotokan Karate Club

Junior Team (Under 19): Coleraine FC Academy U16 Squad, Football

Sports Person with a Disability: Joel Mc Clelland, Basketball

Sports Administrator: Roberta Gaile, Boxing

Services to Sport: Victor Leonard, Football

Coach of the Year: Mary Robinson, SIKA Gymnastics Club

Merit Award: Ciara Toner, Springwell Running Club

Senior Team (Over 19): Eoghan Rua GAC Coleraine Senior Football Club, GAA

Sportswoman: Ursula Goode, Gymnastics

Sportsman: Ian Mc Clure, Bowls

International Sportsperson of the Year: Katie Mullan, Hockey

Harry Gregg Bursary: Springwell Running Club Fun 2 Run Group and SIKA Gymnastics Woman’s Artistic Team.

Harry Mc Cormick Bursary: Alan Thompson, Coleraine Rugby Club and Ben Wilson, Coleraine Football Club Academy

Bobby Platt Bursary: Churchlands Golden Gloves ABC and Coleraine Strikers

Jim Watt Bursary: Yasmin Geddis, Zanghin Shotokan Karate Club and Bernie O’Neill, Portstewart Bowling Club.
