Mon, October 29, 2018

Over 110 musicians are set to descend on Portstewart and Portrush to mark the 10th anniversary of the award-winning Atlantic Sessions music festival.

From November 15th – 18th, Northern Ireland’s finest artists will perform live in restaurants, hotels, pubs, coffee shops and music venues.  Over 40 events are completely free of charge with musicians playing their own music for one hour forming a trail across the two resorts which has set Atlantic Sessions apart since it began a decade ago.

Snow Water have put together an unmissable festival programme and in celebration of the 10th anniversary, they have invited special guests Radio 1’s Phil Taggart, Gary Lightbody, Joe Lindsay and Ralph McLean, to curate some extraordinary headline events.  Showcase artists throughout the festival include All Tvvins, Anthony Toner, Arborist, Arco String Quartet, Brand New Friend, Ciara O’Neill, David C Clements, Junior Johnston, Kitt Philippa, Malojian, Matt McGinn, Neil Martin, Rosborough, Son of the Hound, Strange New Places and Susie Blue.

For the first time this year, visitors to the event will benefit from a range of special accommodation offers, a partnership with Translink and continued support from Bushmills Distillery.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Councillor Brenda Chivers said:  “Our 10th anniversary celebrations feature a range of collaborations which make this year’s Atlantic Sessions a truly stand-out event. We are proud to be working alongside Bushmills Irish Whiskey and Tourism Ireland and our thanks go to both organisations for their continued support. Together we want to applaud our emerging talent and established artists while marking a decade of memorable live music performances with a fabulous programme put together by Snow Water.

“There’ll be lots of good food on offer as well as Atlantic Sessions coincides with our foodie event Taste Causeway featuring theme nights, speciality menus and food tours which showcase our impressive repertoire of local produce.

“Special accommodation offers for visitors are available across the Causeway Coast and Glens and our partnership with Translink will add another dimension to this very special event. We have so much to offer this November and we look forward to welcoming you all to the Causeway Coast and Glens.”

Colum Egan, Master Distiller at Bushmills Irish Whiskey commented: “The Old Bushmills Distillery was granted a licence to distil over 400 years ago, and since then has been richly contributing to the Causeway Coast, so this partnership with Atlantic Sessions is particularly meaningful. Bushmills also has a strong heritage in providing authentic and enjoyable experiences for music lovers and whiskey drinkers alike.  Most recently, the #AnswerTheCall campaign, with its eclectic event series, has been celebrating and sharing the stories of local talent from musicians, craftsmen, entrepreneurs and adventurers, making this partnership with Atlantic Sessions the perfect pairing. We look forward to welcoming both festival-goers and the rostered talent in November to experience a taste of North Coast hospitality.”

Keith Walls from Causeway Coast Rentals added: “We are proud to work in partnership with Causeway Coast & Glens Borough Council’s tourism team to support the 10th Atlantic Sessions. This popular event returning to the Causeway Coast on November 15th helps boost the industry and brings more visitors to the area. Causeway Coast Rentals welcome the opportunity to work alongside the Atlantic Sessions team and are excited to offer discounted rates on all our self-catering properties during this event.”

All ticketed showcase events are now on sale. Music trail events are free of charge and no booking is necessary. For the very latest news, including tickets, accommodation and line-up information, go to www.atlanticsessions.com or follow us on Facebook and Twitter @atlanticsess.
