The Causeway Coast and Glens has proved its position as a leading force in the tourism industry.

This follows its performance at the recent Northern Ireland Tourism Awards where it was the winner of four overall awards, and three commendations.

Atlantic Sessions on the North Coast, a collaboration between Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council and Snow Water, won the Tourism Innovation Award. The annual event showcases some of the Northern Ireland’s best musical performers in a musical trail around Portrush, Portstewart and Portballintrae.

Now in its eighth year, the event’s success reflects its reputation among performers and music lovers alike.

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council, Alderman Maura Hickey, said: “This award is testament to the growth of the event, our host venues and partners, and the musicians who have taken part. Atlantic Sessions is one of the most loved events in our calendar and it’s a fantastic celebration of our musical heritage. I am delighted that it has been recognised in this way.

“My congratulations also go to the other winners from our area. It’s clear we are leading the way when it comes to providing high quality and memorable tourism experiences. Events like Atlantic Sessions play such an important role as an economic driver for the area, particularly when it comes to extending the tourist season.

It was a night of double celebration for The Bushmills Inn Hotel and Restaurant as it clinched the Customer Service Excellence award and Hotel of the Year while Blackrock House B&B in Portrush was the winner of the Serviced Accommodation category.

Highly commended accolades were presented to Causeway Coast and Glens Heritage Trust and The Fullerton Arms, Ballintoy, while a commended award was won by The Adelphi in Portrush.
