Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has shown its commitment to service personnel by signing an Armed Forces Covenant.

It brings together the Council, members of the Armed Forces and their families who work and reside in the Borough.

The official signing took place at an event in Cloonavin with representatives of the Ministry of Defence, the Reserve Forces and Cadets Association for Northern Ireland and the Royal British Legion.

The Mayor, Alderman Maura Hickey, said: "I hope this Covenant is viewed as a symbol of Council's commitment to supporting both serving and former members of the Armed Forces. It is important that we remember the sacrifices they have made, particularly those who have lost their lives and the family members left behind.”

One of the covenant’s main aims is to make it easier for service personnel, families and veterans to access help and support services.
