Art Exhibitions open in Limavady

Fri, January 05, 2018

The Roe Valley Arts & Cultural Centre in Limavady will host two new art exhibitions this month.

‘Off Her Head’, an exquisite collection of work by local artist Amanda Walker launches on Thursday 11th January at 2pm. Refreshments will be provided.

Through oil, acrylics and sculptural work, Amanda combines the surreal with expressions of human emotion. Steeped in tones of blue and purple, this exhibition as described by Amanda, “mixes the real with her imagination.”

This will be the second solo exhibition from Amanda and it will run until Saturday 24th February. Amanda will also host a free talk on her artistic inspirations and her work on Tuesday 23rd January from 2.00pm – 3.30pm.

The Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre will also host the latest collection from the Derry Print Workshop artists this month.

Launching on Thursday 18th January at 7pm, the exhibition presents work from artists including Matthew Braithwait, Jane Turner Moore, Stephanie Gaumaund, Paul and Joe Barwasie, Rebecca Strain and Andrew Hepburn.

Featuring a wide range of techniques with examples of etchings, collagraph and screenprints, this exhibition is a great example of wonderful printmaking and will run until Saturday 24th February.

Alongside the exhibition, a workshop called ‘Etching Hearts’ will take place on Wednesday 14th February from 2pm-4pm at a cost of £8. Facilitated by Paul Barise, it will give participants a taster of card printmaking.
