Wed, January 17, 2018

Have you a niggling urge to write and yet have not quite found the right space to get going? This spring, unleash your creativity with a new writing scheme for adults at Roe Valley Arts and Cultural Centre in Limavady.

In the ‘A Lot Less Ordinary’ programme, join a journey of fantasy and fiction, geeks and new frontiers. The written and spoken word turns inside-out, seeking new radical voices and individuality.

Starting on the 25th of January at 6.30pm and over the course of eight weeks, Anne McMaster will lead the creative writing programme. Assisted by Peter Davidson participants will work towards a five minute performance or reading at a Performance Snapshot Showcase piece event.

From her English degree to her work as a theatre director, Anne’s skills and knowledge is sparked with a fearless energy to inspire creativity in others. Her vast experience in working with the young and the marginalised, includes her work as Performing Arts Lecturer at San Diego City College and North West Regional College, Alley Theatre Strabane, Northern Health Board and the NI Mental Health Arts and Film Festival.

Local writer, comedian and actor Peter Davidson’s expertise have been showcased on BBC Radio 4, 4 Extra, Radio Ulster, Radio Foyle and BBC NI. He has performed as a stand-up comedian at Belfast Comedy Festival, The Big Tickle, The Comedy Lab and the Edinburgh Fringe and most was selected by the Arts Council NI to perform at the 2017 Brussels Culture Night celebrations.

This is a creative writing programme for the fearless, with gritty, spilling ideas, where the crazy mechanics of expressions and thoughts are teased and refined. People of all abilities, including those new to the world of creative writing, are invited to attend a free registration night on Thursday 25th January at 6.30pm. Come along to find out more, meet the tutors and see if this course is for you. Booking is open now on 028 7776 0650. Cost of full course is £40. Places limited to 14.
