A Christmas message from the Mayor

A Christmas message from the Mayor

Mon, December 18, 2017

The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council has said she hopes everyone has an enjoyable Christmas.

In a message to residents as the festive season approaches, Councillor Joan Baird OBE, said: “I would like to take this opportunity to wish everyone a very happy Christmas and a peaceful New Year. As Mayor, I have attended Christmas events in towns and villages across the Borough, and I would like to thank everyone including our schools, community groups and churches for making this a very special time of year. In many of our communities volunteers continue to dedicate their time and efforts to help improve the lives of others and we are all most grateful for the contribution they make.

“Christmas can be a difficult time for those who are lonely, ill or bereaved and it is important to think and reflect on those who are less fortunate. I would urge everyone to spend time with their family, friends and neighbours and be mindful of those who may need our thoughts and support.

“It is important to acknowledge all those who will find themselves working over the holiday period, especially our farming community and emergency services.

“Looking back on my time as Mayor to date, it has been a privilege for me to represent the Borough both locally and further afield. It has been a very busy time and I look forward to new opportunities in 2018.”

“Happy Christmas to you all and best wishes for the New Year ahead.”
