A very special local lady has celebrated her 105th birthday.

Isobel Foster, who has been a resident in Killowen House since 2002 marked her day with a visit from The Mayor of Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council.

Speaking afterwards, The Mayor, Councillor Joan Baird OBE said: “It was a privilege to visit Isobel and be part of her celebrations. She is a wonderful lady with lots of interesting stories, having lived in both South Africa and Argentina with her late Church minister husband. I want to commend the staff at Killowen House for their care and attention of Isobel and all the residents that live there. Milestones like this one are rare, therefore it is incredibly important to celebrate!”

Isobel was born in 1913 in Ballyrashane, a year before WW1 and a year before Titanic set sail.

Isobel said that while she has had some illnesses, she simply ‘gets on’ with life. One of her mottos for a long and healthy life is to ‘keep the mind’ active. She continues to enjoy writing letters to friends using her beautifully formed handwriting skills.

Causeway Coast and Glens Borough Council wish her continued health and happiness.
